Can God Make Me?

When you say, “Can God make me become a Christian?” I tell you yes, for herein rests the power of the gospel. It does not ask your consent; but it gets it. It does not say, “Will you have it?” but it makes you willing in the day of God’s power… It knocks the enmity out of your heart. You say, I do not want to be saved; Christ says you shall be. He makes our will turn round, and then you cry,”‘Lord save, or I perish!” -Charles Spurgeon (emphasis mine)

Double posted from my Facebook… this is incredibly humbling because were it not for God’s grace, I would still say “I do not want to be saved.”

Looking through a hole in the wall in the Humble Administrator's Garden. The Humble Administrator's Garden is one of the prized gardens in Suzhou (it's a UNESCO World Heritage Site) and was originally completed in 1526 and took 16 years to build. In ancient times, prominent Chinese men would retire and build huge gardens as a symbol of their wealth and taste. This garden was originally commissioned by Wang Xiancheng and was designed by Wen Zhengming.

How to Have a Happy Monday

1. Tidy up the night before. Who wants to wake up to a pile of dirty dishes and messes everywhere? Monday morning can be enough of a letdown without clutter to tackle.

2. Have a plan for the week. I’m not talking about a spreadsheet, but take a look at the calendar, jot down some tasks to get done, and have a general idea of what the week will look like.

3. Go outside! It’s spring, it’s beautiful, and vitamin D is a natural mood-lifter.

It’s worth noting that this post is meant to be a little tongue-in-cheek, since I didn’t follow any of my own advice this morning (or last night). Color me overwhelmed as, after a weekend of too little sleep, I’m facing a messy house today!

I’m excited to join the 31 Days to Clean challenge this month at Joyful Mothering. Today is the first day. Thanks to Sarah Mae’s generosity, I received a free copy of the ebook by tweeting about it a few days ago! Yay!

I’ll be blogging about the challenge each Thursday or Friday this month. Each “day” focuses on a Mary challenge (the heart of homemaking) and a Martha challenge (the action of homemaking).

I’m eager to get my home in better order before Baby Two arrives, and this challenge is coming at a perfect time.

What do you do to have a happy Monday?
