The Only Way We Can Know His Ways

{image credit}

“I saw that the most important thing was to give myself to the reading of the Word of God, and to meditation on it, that thus my heart might be comforted, encouraged, warned, reproved, instructed; and that thus, by means of the Word of God, whilst meditating on it, my heart might be brought into experimental communion with the Lord.

I began therefore to meditate on the New Testament from the beginning, early in the morning. The first thing I did, after having asked in a few words the Lord’s blessing upon His precious Word, was to begin to meditate on the Word of God, searching as it were into every verse to get blessing out of it.”

- George Mueller, quoted in A Place of Quiet Rest by Nancy Leigh DeMoss

Two very different ways of saying the same thing! Love His Word!

This is very true. This year I’ve been getting up earlier and have a scheduled time with God. When I put Him first my days are SO MUCH BETTER. Honestly, I was missing out on so much!

Love the quote. Giving myself to the word of God can be so hard…I read it but to really give myself to it and realize it is for me and not just some distant message can be a struggle sometimes.

Me too!! You put that so perfectly.

This is such a wonderful quote! There is much truth to it!

Anne, thanks so much for visiting and commenting on my blog today! You are so sweet. And so is your blog, btw. ;) This is an encouraging post…it convicts me as I have been lacking in discipline to read. *sigh* I want to, though, and I will. Thanks for the gentle shove.
