A Little Interview With My Readers

I’m passing the proverbial microphone over to you, friends (Eugene Meltsner, anyone?). I did this a long time ago… I found that post through my new random post feature on the sidebar. It’s fun. :-)

So for a lighthearted end to my blogging week, I’m going to ask you three questions. I’d love to hear your answers!

  1. What is one thing on your to-do list that you’ve been needing to get done forever but still haven’t? (I love this question!)
  2. What are you looking forward to this weekend?
  3. (A little more in-depth…) If you consider yourself a Christian, will you give us the short-answer version of how you became one? If not, can you let me know why not?

I’ll be the first commenter. :-) Happy Friday!

1. Get my wedding dress stored! It’s still hanging in the closet!
2. Going to church, since we were at a different one last Sunday.
3. I grew up in a Christian home and I’m not exactly sure when I was converted. I “asked Jesus into my heart” when I was 3 and felt His Spirit drawing me closer to Himself as I got older. When I was 14, I came to understand the reality of sin and justification more clearly than before, and embraced Jesus’ death on the cross for my sins.

Your turn!

1. Clean the bathroom showers. Ugh, my least favorite chore.
2. My husband’s “Meet the Team” picnic tonight for his varsity boys soccer squad. I look forward to getting to know and ministering to a new group of kids every year.
3. Although I wasn’t raised in a Christian home, God drew me to Himself through friends and ultimately His piercing Word. He showed me my sin through Scripture and also showed me the gift of His Son. My full salvation story can be found on my blog since I’m going through a 14 part series right now on my journey with the Lord. :-)

Cleaning the showers is my least favorite chore too!

I did catch a little of your salvation story! I forgot about that… maybe it subconsciously inspired my question. :-) I love that you’re blogging about it!

1. Try to make mozzerella cheese. Seriously, it’s been on my to do list for close to a year, since we got a dairy cow, and I might never actually get around to it.
2. Sunday -the day itself. It’s the day I get to spend with the church body in worship and fellowship, plus it’s my only day off of work.
3.My parents are both believers, and they were purposeful to teach me about Christianity from a young age. I think I was about 10 yrs. old when I was saved, but I didn’t completely understand the depth of what that meant until I was in my teen years and more involved in a solid local church.

This is a fun idea, thanks for sharing!

1. Clean out the basement and have a garage sale (but wedding dress storage is also at the top of the list).
2. Having a weekend with nothing on the calendar.
3. I became a Christian at a youth group meeting as a senior in high school after my parent’s divorce and a difficult battle with depression. The pastor was preaching on 2 Chron 20. The story of Jehoshaphat’s desire to change the course of his family’s legacy and to trust in God in the midst of battle was very moving to me.

1. Since I just moved to a new place a week ago, I have yet to find a place for my boxes of shoes. :P Everything’s unpacked and starting to settle, but the shoes are just sitting in the hallway…
2. A surprise dinner party for a dear friend, with people I didn’t think I’d be seeing again for a long while.
3. I was raised Catholic, but my parents divorced when I was 13 – I blamed God for that and turned my back on him. Three years later I was asked to dance for a production at a charismatic Pentecostal church’s Easter performance and met the most wonderful Christian family who showed me that Jesus was heart-dwelling and personal. Their guidance, patience, and sacrificial love brought me closer to the Lord in new ways – back to where I had been and even deeper in. :)

1.) Oh my gosh. Everything. I have no energy these days…I need to clean my oven, it was on my list before Q was born, 19 months ago. Organizing my closet is a close second, there are so many things that need to be done. I’m gonna go cry now.

2.) To be honest, I’m looking forward to my Hubby being home so he can chase little feet too. We’re exciting like that. We need a vacation, but it’s too hot to go anywhere. I’m gonna go cry now.

3.) Our stories are much the same! I don’t remember the exact age I asked Jesus in my heart, but I grew up knowing Him. I was 13 or 14 before it really resonated with me – all around the time I was baptized in the Holy Spirit, He really made Himself real to me. I remember that time so well.

Loved this, it was fun!

I’ve been needing to clean my oven since before Christian was born, too! But if this makes you feel any better, I’ve heard/read that you shouldn’t use oven cleaner while you’re pregnant… I used that excuse, anyway. :-) Don’t cry… you’re doing great!

1. Set up a budget program on my computer in order to be more disciplined in my spending/saving.

2. Going out to my uncle’s cottage on the Rideau River here in Canada. It’s beautiful to sit at the end of the dock listening to the loons call out as the sun sets.

3. Like you, Anna, I’m not entirely sure when my actual conversion took place. I grew up in a Christian home and remember understanding the gospel and asking Christ to save me when I was about four years old. By His grace, I’ve been striving (not always succeeding) to faithfully abide in Him since.

Oooh fun.

1. Organize our office/storage/spare room…. bought tubs to do it but ran out of time and just put stuff in them!

2. Spending time with Eric and going to church (we also went to a friend’s last week!)

3. My parents are strong Christians and wonderful examples. I accepted Jesus when I was very young and had phases of understanding salvation more and less, but I did not fully surrender my life to Christ until I was 19 after a very dark period in my life. I still don’t entirely understand the process of salvation for children as they grow and understand more about their faith. :)

1. Clean the inside of the driver’s side of my windshield. I have tried cleaning it before, but it has this weird “fog” spot on it that has so far just streaked out farther every time I try to clean it. So I forget about it myself until Tyler drives my car and freaks out because he can’t see anything. I don’t know what he’s talking about, I can see perfectly fine. If I sit up really tall so I can see over the fog spot. Anyway, I need to make attempt #3 to clean it.
2. Going camping with my family and seeing my bro for the first time in months!
3. Similar to your story, I grew up in a Christian family and always believed in Jesus. But I didn’t actually learn what it meant to trust Him as my Savior until I was in junior high.

1. I need to clean the junk out of spare bedroom and start making it into a nursery for our baby girl (she’s due in December). I get so overwhelmed by just looking in there! A whole lotta clutter and junk. The question is, where do I put it all when I finally clean the room out?

2. Well I guess today is the weekend! I’m looking forward to a beautiful wedding I’ll be attending this afternoon for a sweet couple. I’m also looking forward to meeting up with a handful of dear friends at church and then making homemade pizza together for lunch. I love fellowship!

3. My family didn’t start going to church until I was in 2nd grade, and that church wasn’t exactly what I’d call “Biblically driven.” But ever since I was a very small child, God had been piercing my heart with questions and a desire to know Him. It wasn’t until my sophomore year of high school when we started attending a new church (and a guy I liked at school broke my heart) that I finally realized who Jesus Christ really is. Alone in my room in the middle of the night I laid down my life before Him and accepted Him as my Savior. And I’ve never looked back! :)

1. Clean out my cluttered pantry! I am not sure exactly how it gets to looking like it does!
2. Getting to spend some time with my husband and going to church ~ I love fellowship!
3. I also was raised in a Christian home and understood that all have sinned and come short of the glory of God from a very young age and I started following after the Lord then. However, when I was 8 years old I understood that the Lord wanted full complete control of my life ~ and I didn’t want Him to be my Master. I was afraid of going to hell so I did pray a prayer… however, I was not willing to truly let Him have the full control in my life (amazing for an 8 year old!!) When I was 10 I heard a sermon where the pastor (my dad actually) was preaching though the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus Christ. It was truly for me like that song,
“Turn your eyes upon Jesus,
Look full in His wonderful face
And the things of earth will grow strangely dim
In the light of His glory and grace.”
When I turned my eyes on Jesus I was so overwhelmed that He had done SO much for me! My little plans and will was nothing compared to what He went through for me! I was then willing to turn my entire life over to His hands. And from then on I can see Him working in my life. Oh! How I love Him!

1. Refinish the dresser in the master bedroom. It’s the same color as the walls & REALLY needs to be sanded down & painted black. But it’s been in the 90’s here & who wants to sand & paint when it’s 90* outside?

2. Spending Sunday with my husband. He had originally taken a 24 hour overtime shift at work, leaving me to church alone (again). I’m so thankful he returned the hours and will be home with me.

3. I was raised in a Christian home. I think I was in church when I was 3 days old, if that tells you anything ;) I remember being about 4 years old & asking Jesus to come live in my heart…and was then baptized and truly understood my salvation at the age of 12.

Hello Anna! I’m happy to “meet” you too! And I feel blessed that I was able to inspire you to be productive.

You’ve asked some fun questions! Here are my answers:

1. I need to organize all my crafts supplies (yarn, needles, halfway-finished projects, etc)! I’ve been needing to do it for too long. Perhaps I’ll tackle it this weekend!

2. This weekend I’m looking forward to spending time with my family and playing piano. I know those are two completely different things but worshiping the Lord with my family and praising Him on piano definitely make my weekends something to look forward to. :-)

3. I’ve been raised in a Christian home and my parents have been so diligent in teaching me the Truth. At age 8, I was baptized and committed my life to Christ. But each day I give my heart to Him anew for safekeeping. :-) I’m so happy that Jesus’ has saved me! Hallelujah!

Anna, thanks again for stopping by my blog. Feel free to visit whenever you like. :-) Hope you have a blessed day!

Thanks for the sweet comment on my blog.
I have to jump in and answer your questions now!

1. Clean out the school room/dining room since school will begin next week.

2. Watching my 8-year-old follow Christ and be baptized on Sunday.

3. I was involved with a youth group at church and choir in school where we were doing Christian musicals. I felt that tug from the Holy Spirit then. When my mom’s 23-year-old brother was killed, she went through a horrible time. She was a Christian, but had not been living for Christ. She turned back to Christ and when I saw the change in her life I knew I had to follow Him.

Sorry if that was too long. ;)

Oh, I like this! It’s fun!

1. I need to declutter my house so bad. One room at a time, I know. But, I just don’t find organizing fun, so I procrastinate until it’s really bad. I’m gonna start this week, I swear I am. :-)
2. We went camping in the glacier peak wilderness forest this weekend. It was wonderful.
3. I grew up in a Christian home, and have always known “how” to be saved, and believed. So I don’t really have a time I got saved per say. However, I will say that as I have gotten older, the fact of my salvation has gotten more precious to me. God is so good!

I’m with you on the decluttering, Naomi! I am working on one room at a time too. I just finished my son’s room last week… the office is next, which will be a challenge because we have no paper system. But I am letting myself be a perfectionist in each room, because then all I have to do is maintain. :-) Simply, simplify, simplify!

1. Finish scrap booking.
2. Church tomorrow.
3. You’re ‘testimony’ is EXACTLY like mine. I grew up in a Christian home & don’t really know when I truly excepted Him, but I know with all my heart that I have. Then when I was 14, I began to experience a real growing relationship.

Fun questions!

1. I need to pack. I’m going back to college on Thursday, and for some reason, the prospect of organizing and packing always makes me want to bury my head in the sand and scream. I keep praying for grace, grace, and more grace! :)

2. I am looking forward to going to church tomorrow with two of my best friends and my older sister – it will be the last time for several months that we’ll all be at church together, since we’re leaving for different schools this week. But it’s so special.

3. My testimony is very similar to yours – I have been blessed to grow up in a very godly home, and I accepted Christ when I was very young; probably around 3 or 4. But my faith didn’t really become my own until I was about 12, and I’ve been learning and growing ever since!

This is such a fun idea! Can I borrow it for my blog too … ? :)

1)FINISH tidying my room. I started a couple of weeks ago, but what with needing another bookcase and preparing for my little sister’s wedding, I haven’t finshed yet. My new bookcase arrived today, so I need to get busy! :)

2)I’m sick at the moment, so I’m looking forward to feeling better this weekend. That … and seeing a friend. It’ll be lovely!

3) I was born into a Jewish family, but my parents were already believers in Jesus. I can’t remember a time when I didn’t know about God and Jesus. I asked Him into my heart when I was 7, shared a public testimony when I was 14 and fell in love with Him all over again when I was 23. My relationship with Him is … precious. I don’t know how people survive life without Him. He’s TRULY wonderful!!!

P.S. Eugene Meltsner? Absolutely! :) Long live Adventures in Odyssey!

1. Sadly, I have many things on my to-do list that really need to get done. The top one would be getting my wedding dress cleaned (it’s been almost a year…yikes).

2. Camping with friends! We’re spending one night away and then they’re staying in our backyard. It’s been a few weeks since we camped, and it gets less comfortable the more pregnant I get.

3. I grew up in a Christian home and through a story in my AWANA book at age 3, I accepted Jesus. Through the years, I (slowly) embraced Him for myself and not just something that my parents had taught.

It’s been over a year for me on the wedding dress!

1. Just one thing? Why, there’s hundreds! Sewing, knitting, baking… but what I would really love to do, is just take a day, to find somewhere quiet by myself, away from the rush and busyness, and just spend time with God. There always seems to be too much else demanding my energy!

2. I was looking forward to hybernating this weekend as it’s still so cold in Australia, but it’s Election Day on Saturday. So I think I’ll walk down to the local school to vote. Might do some of the things on the list above, and hopefully talk with my boyfriend :)

3. I do consider myself a Christian, and I became one by the grace of God! After trying to live it myself for years, Christ in His mercy made it all real to me. Longer version is here: http://alysa21.xanga.com/598205320/my-testimony/

Great questions! I haven’t commented in a while (sorry) but couldn’t let this one pass up.

Your blog is such a blessing!

I love your first thing, Alysa!
