The Simple Woman’s Daybook ~ 6.1.10
Outside my window…
it’s sunny and getting hotter.
I am thinking…
about cleaning out the garage. I was just looking for something out there. It is going to be a big job, but it’s not so intimidating when I’m out there in the midst of it. It’s worse when I’m just thinking about it.
I am thankful for…
a three-day weekend, especially time spent with friends yesterday.
From the kitchen…
I’m making breaded chicken and sauted green beans for dinner. I can’t seem to remember what side we’re having… oh yes, diced potatoes (from the freezer, actually – leftover from another recipe).
I am wearing…
a pink shirt and workout capris. It’s house-cleaning day. (I changed my weekly routine to get most of my cleaning done on Mondays… which is Tuesday this week.)
I am creating…
a clean house!
I am going…
to make a smoothie in a little bit. Lately I have really been enjoying making banana berry smoothies. All it takes is one banana, a handful of berries (I use frozen ones because they’re cheap), about half a cup of vanilla yogurt, milk, and a few ice cubes. Blend and voila! A delicious smoothie! (That was a bonus recipe.)
I am reading…
in the Bible: 1 Kings. I always read a Psalm a day, and I am about to start studying 1 John 2:7-11. I am also reading The Mill on the Floss by George Eliot, and Marriage to a Difficult Man: The Uncommon Union of Jonathan and Sarah Edwards by Elizabeth D. Dodds.
I am hoping…
in the Lord working in me to will and to act His good purpose. I have no other reason to hope.
I am hearing…
Pandora.
Around the house…
I took everything off the surfaces that I need to dust and polish. But I haven’t dusted or polished yet. So I have a completely empty bookshelf, coffee table, kitchen table, kitchen counters, desk, dresser, and side table.
One of my favorite things…
journaling. I’m almost done with my most recent journal. It’s always a fun feeling to finish one. It feels like an accomplishment, because I’ve often started a new one before I finished the old one. I’m trying to be a little more frugal now. My next journal is one I got from LeAnna in a giveaway.
A few plans for the rest of the week…
nothing to be broadcast here.
A picture thought I am sharing…
I haven’t posted a picture of Christian lately. So here’s one. He is about 17 pounds now. He’ll be 16 weeks old tomorrow. That boy is a chunk!

Hi Brynna! I’ll join Anxiety-Prone People-Pleasers Anonymous with you.
Thanks for commenting; it’s great to hear from you.
Thanks for the sweet comments at my blog, Anna! I am really enjoying your Intentional Homemaking series and gaining so much from it. Wise time management is such a challenge for me.
Your little Christian is adorable! I had read your courtship/engagement story as well and enjoyed seeing all the familiarities to my own.
Many blessings,
Meredith

Christian finally weighs more than my cat!
(Who is not fat, just huge…)
Anna, I’ve really really enjoyed reading your blog lately and I LOVE the homemaking links you posted. Such wonderful reminders – especially for anxiety-prone people-pleasers like myself. Thank you cousin!
