tuesday morning
I wrote this post a couple of months ago but never published it. I was going through my drafts and saw it, and since tomorrow is Tuesday, it seemed like a good time to publish it.
Time creeps and flies simultaneously. The moments I dread seem to crawl by, and yet so many lovely moments go by so quickly. Yesterday morning I got a peep at the early morning beauty while I was getting my coffee, before I had to finish getting ready and leave for work. The afterglow of sunrise is one of my absolute favorite times, especially on a crisp late summer day. But I so rarely see more than a glimpse – of course, it’s my own lack of planning to enjoy those little moments.
Also, I don’t enjoy the times that aren’t noticeably special. Like Tuesday morning, for instance. What is so special about Tuesday morning? I came across an adorable series of posts about the days of the week from Patsy Clairmont (her name sounds familiar, but I don’t really know who she is). Here is what she wrote about Tuesday:
If Mondays are expresso, Tuesday are tea. Tuesdays don’t have the jolt of a Monday, they are, if you think about it, actually rather vanilla-ish. Tuesdays are tidy because they fit right into the beginning of the week without much folderol. They don’t make loud- speaker announcements like demanding Mondays or weekend Fridays do. No, Tuesdays are barely a whisper, which is why we have to pay special attention when we arrive at it or Tuesday will slip through our fingers like beach sand.
Tuesdays have the same amount of hours as every other day, but it seems to take pleasure in remaining rather anonymous. I dunno why. Perhaps a shady past or a secret agenda? No, wait I’ve got it. Perhaps Tuesday is satisfied with not getting all the kudos of say a Saturday, you know, ball games, shopping expeditions, splashy parties. Tuesdays are more humble. Tuesday doesn’t even whine when Monday dumps her unfinished business in her lap, but instead just quietly absorbs it.
Hmm, now I want to be more like Tuesday. Hehe…
The point is, each day is new, and there is much joy to be had in our Father’s smallest blessings.
Good thoughts Anna! They are especially encouraging on this Tuesday morning as I am trying to wake up and embrace a new day! I will be careful to look for those humble moments today. Hope you have a great Tuesday friend!
Great post – I’ve been enjoying your blog so much, and your topics are often timely. We sang the old hymn “Count Your Blessings” at my parent’s church this weekend, and I woke up in a sour mood, but with that song running through my head. How much more joy our lives would have if we took a moment to enjoy the small blessings our Father gives us each day?
Thanks Anna…Come by any time I love visitors and new friends.
I wish you the best with your writing. We seem to share the same passions–our faith, reading, and writing.
Blessings, Patsy
Hello! That’s such a good reminder to live in the NOW and to savor each moment while we have it. Beauty is all around us, if we only take the time to look.
Have a blessed day!

Great post, Anna! I am so glad you published it.
I love the description about Tuesday. (especially the tea part…) I am like you, I want to be more like a Tuesday. So tomorrow I will keep this in mind as I go about my day and try to absorb as much of the “whispers” as I can. Every day has it’s special blessings, like you said.
