I know this is probably terribly horrible of me to say/think…but in a larger, global perspective…isn’t that how the world balances itself? If we can’t sustain a percentage of the population, that percentage dies. (I’m not saying we shouldn’t care…but it does make sense to me.)
Amy, I’m not an expert on statistics or anything, but if you read more about poverty, you’d see that the amount of money the Western world spends on unnecessary things (like cosmetics, for instance) could easily save millions of lives.
And regardless of whether it’s possible to eradicate poverty, and even knowing that it only happens within God’s sovereign will, it is still an incredibly sad reality for so many children. That’s why I title these posts “perspective” – these are the pictures I need to remember when I am tempted to complain about my circumstances.
