I don’t feel particularly inspired.

But I do feel like writing about something - anything.

Does that ever happen to you, whether it’s with writing or something else?

  1. That happens to me quite often. Writer’s block is so frustrating.

  2. I am so glad I am not the only one! :)
Most of the time I feel the desire to write, but when I sit down at the computer nothing happens… really frustrating! Hope you recover soon! :)

  3. I went through a spell like that a while ago where nothing interesting had happened lately and there was nothing to write about! I was so disgusted! :) That’s when you either take pictures of random things or use YouTube videos of cute little kids singing. :) Right now, I have so many things I want to post that I can’t decide what to do next! Ah! You’ll come up with something soon, I’m sure. :)

  4. Hi Anna,

Tell us about what you read in your Bible today or this week. Maybe that will inspire you and get your writing going again !

  5. this is the point when I just start writing the first things that come to mind, no matter what they are. After a bit i end up with a random journal entry.

  6. Wow, it seems I am not alone! Thanks for the comments!

Thanks for the idea, Joe! I actually have a Bible-related post in my drafts section, but I’ve been holding off on posting on it for awhile.

But I can still tell y’all in the comments section - I’ve been reading Psalms and 2 Corinthians lately. So good!

  7. I do, I do!! Today was one of those days! grrr!

I do enjoy all the shows you listed as well…as well as the “andy griffith” show…

  8. Melanie, I forgot about that one; it’s good too. I knew I was missing one! :-) (Everyone else… that was in reference to a comment I left on Melanie’s blog.)

  9. yep. but it goes the other way around too. I have something to write about and I have trouble expressing my thoughts in way that makes sense to just a random person reading my blog. I’ve never noticed you having that problem :)

  10. Sounds like a time for a walk in the woods, Thoreau style! Inspiration usually comes in the quietest moments, right? Hope you’re enjoying the “calm” after graduation and exams, and before the next step!

    Blessings sweet friend!

  11. Hi Anna,

After I graduate I will be taking courses from Whitefield College, majoring in education so that I can be better equiped to homeschool my kids someday. :D

And yes, I have those times where you really want to write and are not inspired.

  12. I have been thinking the past few days about what is appropriate for sharing on blogs (I would like to start one). But I am not completely sure. When I read that you didn’t know what to write about, I thought: perhaps she could write a post about that subject? Only if you’d like to of course!

  13. Anja, thank you for the idea! It’s a good one. My only drawback is that I’m not sure I have it entirely figured out yet, and it’s so subjective to each person. But I still might write something on it. :-)

  14. Hey…..I agree. There have been many times when I really had no idea what to write about, but God jsut seems to put simple little truths in my path. That’s when I try to take a look at simplicity again. The little things are just as important as the big things. Thanks again for your blog–even when you don’t feel inspired you are inspiring other people. Thank you for that. I do have a question for you….where did you go to college? I plan on majoring in English and I noticed that you studied English too. Thanks!

    Emily

  15. Emily, you’re right! Thanks for the reminder.

I’ll e-mail you about my college, because I don’t make it public here, even though I’m graduated now. :-)

  16. I feel like that all the time. That’s why sometimes I go days and days without posting anything but a funny YouTube video. :)

  17. I know what you mean–I’ve been having a hard time coming up with things to blog about lately!

  18. I absolutely understand this feeling, Anna! My personal blog has been online since August, 2001 yet I just hit my 300th post this week! So you can see that I frequently don’t have anything I feel like sharing.

Now that I’m also writing a blog for my company (shameless promotion: http://www.chalfonthouse.com/spblog ) I have daily pressure to find SOMETHING to feed the blog beast. This makes me even less likely to find inspiration for my personal blog, it seems.

I have noticed over the years that MANY bloggers get ‘burned out’ for a time and some of them take a sabatical from posting. They lose readers while they do this, but for some it is worth the ‘price’. As several others have suggested, if you can’t find something to create, simply post a link to a video or to someone else’s blog post…voila! You’ve got a loyal readership here, and I know many of us pray for you regularly. Hang in there!

  19. What a beautiful photo!!

  20. Just to clarify - this was just a brief lack of subject matter to post about; not long-term writer’s block (hopefully). :-) Thanks for all of the encouragement!

And Lynellen, I have taken mini sabbaticals before, but you’re right, sometimes it’s not worth the cost. I don’t feel the need for one now.

  21. Well maybe the chess will inspire you…yes yes…chess

  22. I definitely can identify :-) There is hope though…I can tell you that once you return from NA, writers block will mysteriously disappear :D At least it did for me… ;-) Haha!

  23. Wow… obviously a lot more people have days of “un-inspiration” :) than I thought. I know this is just a temporary little moment for you, Anna, but I am amazed at how many people struggle with this.
I bet you are feeling inspired now! ;)

  24. I often feel inadequate or unispired, which explains the recent lack of posts on my blog…

  25. Yes! Whenever I feel like that I always remember Paddington bear stories from when I was younger. He would write “At a loose end . . .” in his diary and something crazy would always happen just after that, that he could write about. It never quite worked for me :)

  26. Yes! All the time…i don’t think i’m a natural blogger..but thats ok, it’s fun to break all those blogger rules!

I know you like to read…have you read “The Shack” by William Young? Well you should, you definitely should. It would make for a good book review and i’m very curious what you would think about it! I just read it, and i guess it’s the “it” Christian book to read these days. I won’t say much, but it was very different, and very thought-provoking. You should check it out! :-)

  27. Brooke, I haven’t read The Shack, but I have heard both good and bad things about it. If I have time I may take a look at it. Thank you for the recommendation! You should review it on your blog. :-)
