My First Blogiversary: De-lurk!
This is a de-lurk post, so leave a comment, pretty please!
Well, my friends, it has been exactly a year now since the birth of Hope Road (although it was originally christened with the ridiculously long “there’s beauty in not blending in”). It seriously does not seem like that long since I started writing here! Since May 12, 2007, I’ve changed the name once, the template probably five times, and the address once. I like where I’ve ended up.
The first de-lurk post I did was on my birthday last October. I got twenty comments then, and I know my readership has grown some since, so I’m going to do my second de-lurk! This is for you - yes, you. The quintessential lurker. The one who reads and never comments. I know you’re out there, and now is the time to comment! It’s for everyone else, too, even those who comment often. Just take a moment and say hello! Let’s see if we can break a comment record with this entry.
If you need something to say, I’d love to hear who you are and how long you’ve been reading. It’d also be great to know one thing in particular you enjoy about Hope Road, and/or one thing that you would like to see changed or added.

Yay! A whole year! Happy Blogiversary!
I can’t quite remember how long I have been reading Hope Road - but it’s been a couple months. I love reading about your daily life and I love reading your thoughtful and deep posts as well. The way you express yourself is great and I admire your boldness and expertise in different areas. Even though I’ve never met you in person, I can tell that you are a girl who desires to please to Lord and who wants to let others know about Him! I throughly enjoy reading your blog and I look forward to the many posts to come!
Woohoo!
Your blog was one of the first ones I subscribed to when i started reading blogs back in June.
Congrats!
I subscribe through RSS, and don’t always come to the site. I’m on Xanga.

Hi, Anna. I can’t remember how long I’ve been reading your blog, but it’s been at least 3 or 4 months. I’m always inspired by your balanced approach to the topics you write about.
Congratulations on both your blogiversary AND your graduation. I look forward to seeing what you learn in the days to come.
happy blogiversary
and congrats on graduation, too–I was just too lazy to comment on that post!

Hey there!! Happy day!!!

Happy Blogiversary! And, of course, HAPPY GRADUATION!!
I don’t think I technically “subscribe” to your blog…but yours is one of three that I read regularly…! Please keep in touch, Anna!
Congratulations on your first year! You have some very unique posts! May the Lord use you in life changing ways in your 2nd year!
Happy one-year! That’s great. I am Brooke from Oh My Seven, and I don’t know how long I’ve been reading… maybe 4 or 5 months? Not sure… I only started my own blog in November, and I didn’t really read blogs before that.
Congrats again…
Happy Blogiversary! Wow, one year!
I have been reading your blog for about 3 or 4 months, and appreciate your passionate writing about God and a life lived for Him. You were a great inspiration to me when I started out blogging and I am very thankful for you.
Also happy graduation… that is another great accomplishment!
I guess I should expose myself…;) Ellie has a link to your blog on her blog so I found you…come to mine sometime! Happy graduation!! yay, you’re done!!

Hello!! I am one of your faithful readers of only a few months who checks your blog nearly every day! I love reading all of your posts!!!
a year, eh? well done
blogging’s hard….
i follow you on twitter ![]()
I’m from Ontario, Canada, and have been reading your blog for a couple of months or so. I especially like checking out your book reviews. Thanks!
Happy “Blogiversary”, Anna! I love your blog, and I have so loved getting to “know” you through our blogs. You are such a kindred spirit, and a very valued blogging friend. You are such a talented writer as well and I am so glad for the things you blog about. I really don’t think I’d change anything! ![]()
Ironically, this is my first time at your site, so I don’t think this counts as official lurking. But i’ll leave a comment anyway. =)
I just graduated from college as well, and I enjoyed what you wrote about your graduation day… mine certainly was a blur. and you have now inspired me to go update my blog. haha
I also saw you are the oldest of 4 girls and homeschooled… as was I. weird.
congrats!
Well, for starters, congratulations on your graduation, Anna!
I left a comment at the last de-lurk post.
But perhaps you’d like another? At any rate, I’ve probably been reading this lovely blog since October, and I always love what you have to say.
So, about me? I’m nearly seventeen, I write a magazine which you already know about, and I’m starting to get into this college process myself, and contemplating my senior year of high school next year. Which, to me at this point, sounds terribly old. ![]()
Well, I don’t remember how I found your blog, but it was sometime around October/November of last year. I always enjoy reading your thoughts and especially your book reviews (which you kindly allowed us to publish a few in our magazine!).
Hmmm, one thing I particularly enjoy…well, it’s rather unimportant, but I love your layout…it’s gorgeous! And, as I mentioned above, I always enjoy your book reviews. And I don’t think I’d change anything at all. =) Oh, I do have a question, though: what advice do you have on writing, specifically on writing blog posts?
In awe of Him,
Jessina
Happy Birthday Hope Road
Really only a year! You’re good at this hehe. And already a Wordpress convert.
I’m going to guess I’ve been reading about 8-9 months possibly a little more.
Keep writing! You are my ‘American blogging peer’ - there are a scarce lot of decent bloggers (that I’ve found) in the 19-22 range.
Bec (from Australia)
I’m un-lurking. I think I’ve actually commented before, but I can tell you this: i have forwarded your blog to a billion and one young post-college girls and they have all LOVED it! So, girls out there, step right up and say hi! Happy Birthday! Thanks for your wise-beyond-your-years writing!
Hi Anna, I’ve been reading for a few weeks..maybe a month or so!
I know I’ve commented before and am not a lurker but I do want to wish you a happy blog-a-versary! (sp?)
I love your simple writing style and how you tie Christ into the simplest things yet also take the time to write deeply and passionately about things you care about.
You know I’m here, lurking in the dark shadows…
I’m Kaylene. I’ve been a ‘hope road addict’ ever since I found it, by you leaving a comment on my blog. ;)Congrats on your bloggy birthday!
Hi Anna! I’ve been reading your blog for, let’s see, around two months maybe? I really enjoy reading Hope Road, and have been blessed by your writing! Keep up the good work
Kelsey
But what if we’re not a lurker? What if we’ve subscribed to your blog and have commented before? Does that mean that we have to leave a comment as well?

MInTheGap, I actually wrote, “It’s for everyone else, too, even those who comment often.” So there’s your answer! ![]()

Hi Anna,
This post must have missed my radar.
Well, I’m Catalina, and I live in Washington, D.C. I’m a freshman in high school this year.
I’ve probably been reading here for about 8 months, maybe? As for what I like about your blog……I really like the variety of topics you address. And I am perhaps in a different category when it comes to faith and Christianity, but I do appreciate the depth of thought here on this site which you don’t find in almost any young adult blog! I’ve also found several other good bloggers through your links and comments, which I always like.
Keep writing, Anna! You are a great role model and I like your work!

Thank you, Catalina!
I really appreciate your encouragement and your reading & commenting.
May 18, 2008
Oh, and P.S., I like that you always respond to your readers. ![]()
May 18, 2008
Now, I can’t let that go by. I’m glad you like it.
I know a couple of bloggers who respond to seriously every comment. I’m not that good!
May 18, 2008
(Grin) Yes, I’ve seen a few of those bloggers myself.
Well, I mean that if someone asks a question or mentions something that you’d like to follow-up on, you respond to their comment. I think that’s a really nice courtesy, and I appreciate it! It makes reading and commenting much more personal.
