Like Little Children

Sunday, March 23rd, 2008 | Christianity

Today I read a post by John Piper’s son, Abraham Piper, who wrote that his son was enthralled by the fact that his homemade tomb for Jesus was empty this morning.

It reminded me. My mom teaches Sunday school to toddlers. One morning she taught about the story of the lost sheep. She gave each child a paper cup filled with cotton balls - to represent sheep.

Later we heardĀ from his mother that one little boy took his “sheep” to bed with him that night. In the middle of the night he woke up and somehow realized that he had lost one of them. He was so upset that he went and woke his mother up, and they had to search through his sheets and around his bed until they were able to find the missing “sheep.”

Becoming jaded is all too easy. But He is the one who makes all things new, and who teaches us to see like little children.

What a miracle: He is risen!

That’s so cute… what a nice reminder of what Jesus does for us.

How cute! Isn’t it great to know that He is risen??

That’s interesting. I think the challenge I struggle with is knowing which things I should approach like a child and then which things I should leave behind as childish ways. It feels like one of those two opposite ideas situations that only make sense in the context of Jesus.

And thanks for posting a comment on my new site. I appreciate it.
