My First Surgery

Monday, December 17th, 2007 | My Life

I am getting my wisdom teeth out tomorrow morning, and I am not excited about it. I always get strangely nervous about these sorts of things. But I’m sure it will be fine; they’re not impacted or anything. And I’ll be glad to have it over with!

If you have any wisdom teeth stories you’d like to share, feel free. I’d enjoy it. :-)

I don’t have any wisdom teeth stories, other than mine came in like a week ago out of nowhere. i kept thinking, aren’t i too old for this or something? guess not.

i love that my jealousy predicament made you think of little women! i totally had forgotten about that part…loved the book. loved the movie. which character are you more like?

One of my closest friends, Shauna, got her wisdom teeth out a few years ago. Her cheeks swelled to proportions that hot-air balloons would be jealous of…and she had a long ice pack that wrapped underneath her chin and velcroed on top of her head. She was also so drugged for the soreness that she was mildly hallucinating: I was visiting the day after her surgery, and we were watching a movie, and she kept asking me to brush the bugs off of the TV and to stop her mother from yelling (she wasn’t). At first it was scary, but then her hallucinations started getting ridiculous, and her laughing made me laugh…I knew it was just the medication, and not anything more serious.

So you might want to encourage your sisters to keep a record of things you say while medicated–could be funny (and potentially good for blackmail) later on. :)
P.S. You’ll be fine, honestly–it’s a quick operation, and you’ll heal like a dream. Don’t worry–just enjoy the chance to veg out and relax while you recooperate! :)

Don’t try to smile.
It just makes you look funny.

You are sitting across the room from me and I see you…and you are done with your surgery…yay!

Take some time off, don’t do anything, and just watch movies and sleep. I had mine out in August, and was so miserable! Lots of ice on the cheeks, lots of vicodin. Or, maybe you’ll just have them come out quickly!
